The 2015 Annual Tomato Pie contest, which took place during Summer on Augusta at The Pickwick Pharmacy and Soda Fountain, announced the winner of the best tomato pie in Greenville on Saturday, July 25. Tomato Pie judges were WSPA’s Megan Heidlberg, Chief of Police Ken Miller, 2014 First Place Winner Debbi Kaplan, and Jennifer Glover of Carolina Girl Cooks.
The First Place winner is Liz Rhoads, second place is Mindy Hubble and third place is Colby Hubble. There were 15 pies to judge and after the winners were announced the public enjoyed samples of all the entries. Augusta Road Business Association and The Pickwick Pharmacy & Soda Fountain plan to continue this southern tradition.
Keefe Ray, Pharmacist at The Pickwick, said “We enjoy hosting this event each year and appreciate all the cooks who enter the contest. I really enjoyed the creativity of all the cooks and especially enjoyed getting to taste all the different pies at the end. The competition is tough and the judges did a great job of choosing the winners.”
