Augusta Road’s Holiday Open House COVID Style
ARBA plans a safety-first holiday celebration a week early this year.
Greenville, S.C. 2020 - Augusta Road Business Association (ARBA) is moving forward with their annual celebration to kick off the holiday season. Holiday Open will take place House on Sunday, November 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Holiday Open House, a tradition on Augusta Street since the ‘80s, will continue amidst the current coronavirus pandemic. For many years this has been the event where families experience the beginning of the Christmas season. A day where businesses along the road host festivities, music, sales, specials, treats, hot cocoa, and visits with Santa and his elves. This year businesses plan a festive experience but with safety guidelines at the forefront to keep shoppers, families, and employees safe. Shoppers can still expect the once a year special sales, raffles, and prizes that help make this day so popular.
Holiday Open House used to be the Sunday before Thanksgiving and after 2019’s event ARBA members voted to move the holiday shopping day to a week before making this year’s date Sunday, November 15 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. One of the reasons is that many people begin traveling the weekend before Thanksgiving and are not able to attend. This year the area small businesses will be able to get in front of the holidays as larger chains are getting festive earlier than ever this year.
Santa is coming! Santa will be six feet away in his sleigh at The Elephant’s Trunk. Plus, ARBA member Kenny Rhodes, owner of Kenneth Rhodes & Associates, will be our Santa who moves from one location to another in his special car. There will be many opportunities to talk and take photos with Santa from a distance.
The Annual Instagram Contest will also return. Attendees can snap photos or selfies while at Holiday Open House and post on Instagram and tag @onlyonaugusta and #hohonaugusta2020 to win gift certificates to businesses along Augusta Street.
Safety Information:
- Masks are required at all businesses.
- Shoppers must adhere to capacity limitations.
- Shoppers and families are urged to social distance.
